A recent welterweight champion gets back into the octagon in hopes of getting his belt back when Tyron Woodley takes on Gilbert Burns in the main event of UFC Fight Night on May 30th at the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas.
Woodley is 19-4-1, and had defended the welterweight championship four times before his unanimous decision loss to Kamaru Usman on March 2nd. He’s equally adept as a striker or grappler, with seven wins by knockout and five by submission in his MMA career. He’s the #1 contender for the belt he just dropped, and
Burns is 18-3, and undefeated at 3-0 since moving up from lightweight to welterweight. His last fight was a first round stoppage of Demian Maia on March 14th, so both fighters are quickly heading back to the cage. “Durinho” is the #6 fighter in the division, and has five knockouts and eight submissions in his career.
