Two beloved sides with passionate fan bases on opposite sides of Germany’s capital do battle today when Hertha BSC faces 1. FC Union Berlin in the Berlin Derby today at 2:30 p.m. ET on FS2.
Hertha began the restart of the Bundesliga with a bang, with a 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim. An own goal from Hoffenheim’s Kevin Apoguma opened the flood gates in the 58th minute, and tallies from Vedad Ibišević two minutes later and Matheus Cunha 14 minutes on ended the doubt. Hertha sit 11th in the table on 31 points, eight from relegation and eight from Europe. Both outcomes seem unlikely, but they seem the in-form here.
Union fell 2-0 to Bayern Munich at home in their return, but bossed the game at points and had what appeared to be a late goal waived off by VAR. They sit on 30 points, which makes today’s derby more about hometown pride than places in the table.
Right now Hertha is getting the overwhelming majority of the handle and bets, but that action is inverted which might imply the public is on the a bit much. There might be value on what was a game Union side last week, and the books will need some money to flow in on Eisern Union for these current lines to be in balance.
Here are the odds and bet splits for today’s Berlin Derby between Hertha & Union:
Hertha BSC +128: 73% of handle, 61% of bets
Tie +240: 12% of handle, 22% of bets
FC Union Berlin +205: 15% of handle, 17% of bets
