Friday’s Madden simulation slate will be a little lighter than usual, as there are only three games on tap. There will still be $3,000 in prizes available though on DraftKings, and it just might be a little easier to get in the money with fewer options. We break down some ideal plays for the classic contest below, and you can set a lineup here.
Quarterback
Jameis Winston, Buccaneers ($6,000) vs. Dolphins
Winston could very well return the most value in the slate at the quarterback position. His DKFP average (19) is only second to Patrick Mahomes, and he has two of the games more sure-handed receivers up against the lowest rated defense in the slate. Winston should air it out plenty might have the second highest upside in the field given his offense’s focus and the talent he has to work with against Miami
Other option: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($8,000) vs. Falcons
Running back
Christian McCaffrey, Panthers ($7,900) vs. Browns
McCaffrey might be the most expensive running back in the slate and not have many big games, but I think he could be worth the price here. Frequent players might still shy away from him in a smaller field because of his bust potential, but playing contrarian and rostering him could land you the highest scorer in the slate. If you’re going to take a chance on an expensive player, bet on McCaffrey.
Devonta Freeman, Falcons ($5,800) vs. Chiefs
Freeman leads all running backs in receptions (48) and receiving touchdowns (3). He also has the highest DKFP average (15.5) among running backs in the slate and ranks third in rushing yards (862). Freeman’s 12 total touchdowns illustrate his ability to make an impact on games.
Other options: Damien Williams, Chiefs ($5,600) vs. Falcons
Wide receiver
Mike Evans, Buccaneers ($7,200) vs. Dolphins
A Jameis Winston-Mike Evans stack makes a ton of sense. Winston’s price makes up for Evans being one of the most expensive receivers, and the duo has an ideal matchup against a bad secondary.
Calvin Ridley, Falcons ($4,600) vs. Chiefs
Ridley is one of the best value plays in the field. He isn’t far from Julio Jones in receiving yards and has a touchdown total (7) identical to the Falcons’ WR1. Ridley has scored in three straight games and has reached double-digits in fantasy points in four straight contests. He should’t attract as much attention as Jones from the likes of Kendall Fuller and Tyrann Mathieu.
Other options: Odell Beckham Jr., Browns ($7,100) vs. Panthers
Tight End
Travis Kelce, Chiefs ($6,300) vs. Falcons
Kelce has the highest DKFP average (14.9) at tight end and is the only tight end that’s the top target on his team. He leads Kansas City in receptions (79) and has catching (91) identical to Tyreek Hill. That gives him a ceiling considerably higher than the other options in the field.
Other option: Mike Gesicki, Dolphins ($4,000) vs. Buccaneers
Defense/Special Teams
Buccaneers D/ST ($2,700) vs. Dolphins
None of these defenses seem particularly enticing, but Tampa Bay might have the best run defense in the field against a terrible rushing team. The Dolphins have scored 20 of fewer points in nine sims so far, so the Buccaneers have a good chance to keep the score low.
