Captain’s Picks
A.J. Brown ($11,700)
Aside from the obvious picks — DeAndre Hopkins and Deshaun Watson — there aren’t many names that stand out at Captain. I’m going to go with Brown as a high-upside WR play who isn’t going to cost me the premium like Hopkins or Watson. Let it be known that the Texans’ duo is the safe route, however. Okay, so Brown has a TD in three straight games. One of those games was an 8-126-1 line against the Giants. Brown should give us a little bit of leverage on Hopkins and Watson with a comparable ceiling.
Will Fuller V ($10,200)
I’m going to stick at WR and go with Fuller as my alternate Captain pick. Fuller is sort of in the same mold as Brown — a deep threat who has high upside at a lower cost. Fuller hasn’t put together huge games but his floor is fine, 10.3 fantasy points per contest. He’s getting chunks of yardage, which we like to see out of any WR in Madden. Really, this is another leverage play that could pay off if Hopkins and Watson are pedestrian.
FLEX Men
Derrick Henry ($9,400)
This is my “off the wall but on the wall” play. It’s “off the wall” a bit because when we look at Henry’s boxes and his production, it’s bad from a season-long perspective. Henry’s only averaging 8.2 points per sim and his price is really high. “On the wall” though, Derrick Henry is still Derrick Henry. He’s posted 20+ fantasy points in two of four sims and really just needs to start getting into the end zone. A little luck and Henry could be a massive leverage play.
Adam Humphries ($3,200)
Humphries follows in the footsteps of the other great Madden sim slot receivers as a decent play. He’s not going to light the world on fire; Humphries has only gone for north of 20 fantasy points once in 15 sims. That’s fine. He’s catching the rock and is going to get PPR points. Humphries could bust but at this price, that won’t look so bad. Really, we just need 5-50 for Humphries to return 3x value.
