Two of the most exciting teams in the KBO this year are set to face off and start week three of the 2020 season. The NC Dinos will play the Doosan Bears at 5:30 a.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2. The Dinos’ 10-1 record is the best mark in the league. They led the KBO in home runs last year with 128 belted 18 so far this year. The defending champion Bears have the highest batting average (.337) in the KBO this and rank second in home runs with 17. They’ve scored more runs (82) than any other team in the field though and should be a challenge for a Dinos team that’s quickly becoming a fan favorite.
DraftKings has DFS contests going for Tuesday, and we break down the best Showdown lineup strategies for the Dinos-Bears matchup. You can set your lineup here.
Captain’s Picks
Jae Il Oh, 1B, Doosan Bears: $12,300
It’s hard to justify going with a pitcher as a captain when there are so many quality batters in this contest. Oh is batting .404 with three home runs and 13 RBIs. He’s right behind Jose Fernandez in terms of batting average, but can give you comparable numbers for much cheaper. Oh might be slightly less consistent, but his power gives him more upside than Fernandez. A riskier home run threats like Aaron Altherr better suited for a utility slot.
Min Woo Park, OF, NC Dinos: $12,000
Park doesn’t have desirable home run power, but getting his level of production at such a this price could give you plenty of flexibility. He’s batting .432 this year with one home run and nine RBIs and hasn’t dropped below .300 since 2014. He’s tallied at least 18 fantasy points in almost half the games he’s played in so far this season.
Utility Picks
Aaron Altherr, OF, NC Dinos: $10,000
Although Altherr notched just his second multi-hit game of the season on Sunday, his production might have been hindered by a hand injury he suffered early in the year. Two of his seven hits to date are home runs, but Altherr has still managed to steal two bases. He has a high ceiling, but hasn’t shown the kind of consistency to make him an ideal captain.
Jae Hwan Kim, 1B/OF, Doosan Bears: $9,600
Getting Altherr and Kim in utility spots is ideal if you find a confident value player to captain. Kim is somehow cheaper than Altherr despite his .326 batting average, four home runs, and 14 RBIs. His level of success in the KBO should make it easy to be confident in rostering him.
