The NFL released the 2020 schedule and the Buffalo Bills have huge opening in the AFC East when they open the season at the Jets. The Bills are +145 to win the AFC East, sitting just behind the now Tom Brady-less Patriots, who are +125. Buffalo’s preseason win total is installed at 9 with -110 odds on both the over and the under.
DraftKings Sportsbook posted all the Week 1 point spreads the evening of the schedule release, and they have since added nearly 100 additional games throughout the season. DK does big business in New Jersey and Colorado, so it is no surprise they have all 16 lines for the Giants, Jets, Eagles, and Broncos. However, they have multiple lines for other teams as well. For the Bills, we get five additional lines, including prime time games against the Steelers and Patriots.
Point spreads
Week 1: vs. Jets (-6.5)
Week 7: @ Jets (-1.5)
Week 8: vs. Patriots (-2.5)
Week 14: SNF vs. Steelers (-2.5)
Week 15: @ Broncos (+1)
Week 16: MNF @ Patriots (+3.5)
Most likely cover
The Bills got a big upgrade in their passing game when they added Stefon Diggs to John Brown and Danny Amendola. The Bills will continue to win with defense and the running game, but Josh Allen should be able to up his passing game with Diggs in the fold. Week 1 at home against a Jets team that has a lot of new faces on offense, should be a game the Bills can take with some ease.
Most likely fail to cover
The Steelers defense was stout last year and now they get Ben Roethlisberger back, who does his best work in Pittsburgh and in prime time games. The Bills went into Pittsburgh last season on Sunday Night Football and won to clinch a playoff birth, but Josh Allen was still kept down for the most part while the Steelers couldn’t get anything going Duck Hodges at quarterback. That should change this time around.
Line most likely to change
By Week 16, I expect the Patriots to be out of the playoff race while the Bills should be in the thick of that race. Playing in Foxboro will never be easy, but the talent level on these two teams appears to have a wide gap at the moment.
