Italian Serie A players have been taking part in individual training, but on Monday, May 18th, that will ramp up to full squad training. Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte announced on Saturday that teams could resume full squad training on Monday.
The league suspended play on March 9th due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In late April, the prime minister announced there was a path to returning that including full squad training beginning on the 18th. The country has been working its way back after being an epicenter of the novel coronavirus.
This news comes as Germany’s Bundesliga has returned to action. The first six games of the weekend are complete, with two more on Sunday and one on Monday. The Bundesliga is playing nine matchdays over seven weeks to wrap up the season by the end of June. Meanwhile, the English Premier League is targeting a June 12th return to competitive matches.
Juventus currently leads Serie A with 63 points. They are one point ahead of Lazio, and nine points ahead of Internazionale. Brescia and SPAL hold the final two spots in the stands for relegation, with Lecce and Genoa tied for the third relegation sport.
