A pair of flyweights in need of a win fight tonight on the undercard of UFC on ESPN 8 as Cortney Casey faces Mara Romero Borella from Jacksonville, Florida.
Casey is 8-7 in her MMA career, and she gets after it. A puncher with 4.8 significant strikes per minute in the octagon, she also absorbs 4.73. “Cast Iron” is 4-6 in UFC, and has lost three of her last four fights, with all the results by decision.
Borella is 12-7 as a professional, but just 2-3 in a UFC ring since joining the circuit in October of 2017, and lost her last fight to Montana De La Rosa in February. At 34, she needs a win if she’s ever going to find the UFC Top 15 rankings.
Borella does appear to be the sharper side, as she’s getting just 36% of the tickets yet 54% of the cash behind her. The bookmakers also believe this fight lasts all 15 minutes, as it’s -360 to be decided by the judges, and +250 for a stoppage.
