Captain’s Picks

Erling Haaland, F, Dortmund ($18,000)

Haaland is Dortmund’s third leading scorer, but could become the primary option because of injuries. Marco Reus was targeting a May return from a groin injury, but needs another week so to recover and won’t be playing Saturday. Jadon Sancho is listed as questionable with a muscle injury. If Jadon doesn’t play, Haaland should see a lot more of the ball. He might even be a better play than Sancho, who has yet to say he’s at 100 percent.

Amine Harit, M/F, Schalke ($7,800)

Dortmund has all the priciest players, but Harit gives you better value. The Moroccan has done a little bit of everything for Schalke this season. He’s second on the team in goals with six and is tied for the lead in assists with four. He’s effective at creating space with his dribbling skills and has improved as a passer this year. Captaining him would allow you to stack the more expensive Dortmund players as flex options.

Flex Plays

Julian Brandt, M, Dortmund ($9,000)

Both Dortmund’s starting midfielders — Axel Witsel and Emre Can — are out with injuries. That means Brandt and Thomas Delaney will be starting. Delaney hasn’t played since November and could be out of practice, but Brandt will be playing in the center — where he’s had some impressive games. He’ll be running box to box and should be a factor on offense and defense. That gives him plenty of upside.

Achraf Hakimi, M, Dortmund ($8,000)

Hakimi and Thorgan Hazard are Dortmund’s top assist men behind Sancho. Both players have 10 assists on the year. Hazard’s five goals edge out Hakimi’s total of three, but Hakimi does has a comparable DKFP average and costs $2,000 less. He’s also locked in to start, making him a safer bet. His creativity on the wing shouldn’t be overlooked.
