Breaking down betting splits for Fortuna Düsseldorf-SC Paderborn 07

We break down the odds and betting splits for Saturday’s matchup between Fortuna Düsseldorf and SC Paderborn as the Bundesliga starts back up.

Fortuna Düsseldorf and SC Paderborn will be among the first teams to face off when the Bundesliga resumes on May 16th after being postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The two teams will play a match at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany at 9:30 p.m. ET, with the game airing on FOX Soccer Match Pass.

Both sides are toward the bottom of the Bundesliga table. The home team — Düsseldorf — is favored at (+114) over Paderborn (+225). It last won when it beat SC Freiburg 2-0 in late February and has tied three straight games since then. Rouwen Hennings leads Düsseldorf in scoring and has netted 11 goals in 22 starts, but I think Paderborn’s well-rounded attack can help it come out on top. The visiting side has already beaten Düsseldorf 2-0 this season.

Paderborn is facing relegation and only has four wins on the year, so urgency could come into play. It’s only six points behind Düsseldorf in the standings and could climb past 17th place Werder Bremen with a win. Paderborn has lost four straight but being backed against a wall could help the team thrive under pressure. It’s gotten at least one goal from 13 different players on its roster this year. It piled on two first-half goals against Düsseldorf in December before easing up and should feel confident on Saturday.

Düsseldorf has 74 percent of the handle on bets for the game with 72 percent of bettors predicting a win for the home side. Paderborn has 12 percent of the handle and only 10 percent of bettors have money on the visitor’s win. If a draw (+250) is the result, 18 percent of bettors will be in the money. A tie attracted 14 percent of the handle.
