The Bundesliga returns this weekend, and when TSG 1899 Hoffenheim takes on Hertha Berlin, it will be one team trying to reach the Europa League against one trying to continue to stay clear of relegation.
Hoffenheim sit ninth in the table on 35 points, but only two points from a place in Europe trailing Schalke 04, VFL Wolfsburg, and Freiburg. Andrej Kramarić has been fantastic up front since returning from injury, with seven goals in just 14 matches and 12 starts for Die Kraichgauer. But the break in action due to Covid-19 couldn’t have come at a better time for the club in a football sense, as Hoffenheim had failed to win six on the trot including four losses.
Hertha are safe for now from the drop zone, with 28 points putting them six clear of the playoff place. But they’ll likely still need to add points over the final nine matches to stay ahead. They’re a -16 on goal difference through 25 rounds, and Dodi Lukebakio’s five goals scored to lead the team is the least of any Bundesliga club leader.
Here are the money lines and betting splits for Hoffenheim vs. Hertha Berlin on Saturday, May 16th.

These are two teams that really struggle to score, and it’s not like you can simulate match chemistry after this many weeks off. The defenses should be ahead of the offenses early, and especially with two clubs that have combined to score 67 goals in 50 league matches this season.
This could be a snooze-fest, so we’ll go under 2.5 goals at +105 to re-open the season.
