UPDATE: Jadon Sancho is on the bench to start today’s match due to a muscle injury.
The Bundesliga starts back this weekend, and two teams with different goals but plenty to play for return to the pitch when Borussia Dortmund takes on FC Schalke from Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany.
Dortmund is attempting to break Bayern Munich’s stranglehold on the Bundesliga table, and make up four points of ground with nine matches remaining on their rivals. They’re +550 to overcome, and having a match with Bayern remaining becomes one of the big selling points in their case to take home the trophy.
Meanwhile although Schalke sit sixth and in the final place for the Europa League, their road to hanging on is much tougher. Despite being in for now, they’re +125 to remain due to the difficulty of their remaining schedule. They may sit sixth in the table, but by expected goal difference they should be in 10th. To say they’ve run lucky this season is very fair, and they’ll be facing a team with even more to play for.
Here are the money lines and betting splits for Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Schalke on Saturday, May 16th.

Dortmund is -148 to score first and win the match. With Jadon Sancho likely playing his last matches for the club, there’s plenty of motivation for him to increase his transfer fee. We’ll go with Dortmund not only to win, but also break their maiden after the shutdown first as well.
