The Doosan Lions and Kia Tigers get the spotlight on ESPN2 on Thursday, as the two KBO teams will face off at 5:30 a.m. ET. The Lions are 5-3 and have been one of the most dominant offensive teams in the league this year while the Tigers aren’t far behind at 4-5. We break down the ideal lineup strategies for a Showdown contest centered around the game, and you can set your lineup here.
Captain’s Picks
Jose Fernandez, 1B/2B, Doosan Bears: $15,900
Fernandez is the priciest captain’s pick available but comes with a ton of consistency. He has the highest batting average .500 in the KBO and leads the league in hits (17) as well. Being the most dependable batter on the KBO’s most dominant offensive team makes him appealing.
Jae Hwan Kim, OF, Doosan Bears: $14,100
Kim should probably be more expensive than this. He’s hit double-digits in fantasy points for four straight games and is the Bears’ best power hitter. His .419 batting average isn’t far behind Fernandez’s mark. Kim has also tallied four home runs and a league-leading 14 RBIs. Rolling with him during a hot streak seams like a good idea.
Utility Picks
Jae Il Oh, 1B, Doosan Bears: $8,800
Oh has scored at least 15 DKFP in four straight games. He’s hit over 20 bombs in each of his last four seasons and is off to a strong start this year. He’s batting .429 with two home runs and eight RBIs.
Preston Tucker, OF, Kia Tigers: $9,800
Tucker is risky pick at this price, but has a plenty of upside. Although he hasn’t been a power hitter in the past, he’s batting .409 with three home runs so far this season. He’s also tallied 11 RBIs in his second year with the Tigers. He’s hit or miss in terms of fantasy production, but has only struck out twice in 32 at-bats. He gets plenty generates plenty of chances to get on base and score, which makes him worth the risk.
