The Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons will face off in a Madden sim Thursday at 4:00 p.m. ET. The sim will be set to include rain, as opposed to the normal sunny conditions. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.
Captain’s Picks
Josh Allen ($15,900)
I initially wrote the sentence “I don’t know if I’d recommend either QB in this contest.” I took it out because you’re going to play a QB in this contest. Well, if you want to that is. Allen is a decent play given the Falcons’ defense has actually been OK in Madden sims. This is good because I think it will force Allen to run the ball more, which gives him a nice boost. Getting to 15-20 fantasy points may be tough in this one, so Allen’s floor is appealing.
Calvin Ridley ($9,900)
There’s not a lot to like about either offenses in this Showdown contest. The Falcons have underperformed and the Bills have a solid defense. Buffalo’s not known for lighting up the scoreboard anyway. So we don’t have a ton of players who can pop off. Julio Jones ($16,200) will be trendy. So Ridley sort of gives us everything we want in a Captain. He should be lower owned. He has had a couple games of 20+ fantasy points. He’s a good dice roll.
FLEX Men
Devin Singletary ($7,400)
The Falcons defense does have one flaw and it’s against the run. That means Singletary could be in for a big game, plus he should fly under the radar ownership-wise. His floor has been solid with at least 8 fantasy points in the past six games, including a few over 10 points. What’s most encouraging is his usage in the passing game. Singletary has at least three catches in four of six games.
Justin Hardy ($1,800)
I really like cheap lottery tickets and Hardy fits that mold. He’s below $2K and is a WR on the depth chart for Atlanta — aka he’s going to at least get some snaps. Hardy has vultured a few TDs from Falcons receivers with 2 TDs this sim season. As a red zone threat and receiver who can make a play, we’re getting a great GPP play in Hardy.
