Some bad news out of Foggy Bottom for Georgetown Hoyas fans today, as sophomore guard Mac McClung announced he’s leaving the school and will enter the transfer portal.
Georgetown's Mac McClung will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told ESPN. "A number of different events made me feel I had no choice but to transfer from Georgetown." ESPN News story: https://t.co/1dC0vHZD6g

McClung averaged 15.7 points per game on 39.4% shooting and 2.4 assists per game for a battered and bruised Hoyas team last year. He sustained a foot injury in practice on February 1st, and besides eight minutes three weeks later against Providence, he didn’t step on the floor for the rest of the season.
The Big East All-Freshman performer in 2018-19 will be one of the hottest commodities on the transfer market, and will be petitioning the NCAA for immediate eligibility no matter where he lands according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givnoy.
A marketable player such as McClung will have many different offers, and his might be the first test case of how name, image, and likeness rights (NIL) might affect how a player makes their decision. With two years of eligibility remaining, for a player with limited NBA prospects this might be his best chance to cash in before wherever his pro career takes him.
The Virginia native will likely find many suitors in the ACC, with plenty of blue-blood programs ready to show what they can offer.
