Captain’s Picks

There isn’t much to these contests and with two teams like this playing, there isn’t much we have to think about when picking a Captain. It’s Trae Young ($18,000). You can maybe make an argument for Bam Adebayo ($13,500) or Jimmy Butler ($15,600), but really neither player has the type of ceiling games Young has this season. I’d lean Bam or Young in this format, with Adebayo only being a viable option because of his triple-double upside. Butler hadn’t been having a great fantasy basketball type of season for the Heat.

FLEX Options

There’s a decent amount of value in this contest, so it should be easy for us to fill out whichever lineup we want. Really, in any one of these contests you can pretty much fit any lineup you want in there. Chris Silva ($1,500) is basement priced and he has played in 41 games this season, averaging a modest 2.9 points per game in real life. The thing is, a player this cheap doing anything in his box scores is something and Silva has played in plenty games. Sure, there’s a lot of variance but the value is there.

If we’re looking for more value, I like Dewayne Dedmon ($1,800) at a similar price to Silva. Dedmon had been buried on the Kings bench for a while, trying to force his way out of Sacramento. When he finally was traded before the deadline, it was a coup for his fantasy value. Dedmon turned things around in 10 games for the Hawks, so there’s a small — yet potent — sample size of box scores that makes Dedmon a solid play.
