The Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams will face off in a Madden sim Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. ET. The sim will be set to include rain, as opposed to the normal sunny conditions. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.
Captain’s Picks
Keenan Allen ($15,000)
Before we get underway here, I’ve got to warn you. This game is going to have rain. A lot of rain. Well, I think so. Just wait and see. I’m not really worried too much about the rain though. I think Philip Rivers will be able to find Allen and his rating will shine through. I’ve seen what Allen can do in the slot and outside. Rain means sloppy tackling and missed tackles. All it takes is one.
Todd Gurley ($13,200)
If the rain is a factor and it’s tough for Goff to throw the ball, then Gurley could have a massive game. He’s been quiet on the ground, failing to go over 100 yards in five straight games. He’s still getting carries, however, and most of those carries are happening in the red zone. Gurley will almost definitely get the goal line work and the battle in the trenches may be easy to win in the mud.
FLEX Men
Mike Williams ($6,400)
It’s just too difficult to fade Williams in any format, in any type of weather. Rain or shine. Sleet or Snow. Whatever. His price is still ridiculously low for a receiver who is probably top 5 in terms of fantasy points per game in Madden sims. Even in an off game (2 catches for 10 yards), Williams was able to find the end zone and salvage a $6,400 salary in the FLEX. His upside is just too high to let a little water get in the way.
Johnny Mundt ($1,000)
I’m just going to keep rolling with basement priced no-name TEs at FLEX until they start letting me down. I’ve seen at least 2-3 obscure TE touchdowns per simulation day and it’s been a couple straight sim I’ve called with the same play. Mundt has been targeted in a few games and it’s going to be risky. The rain could mitigate some risk if it’s sloppy and low scoring. All we’d need out of Mundt is a TD and we’re golden.
