Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori canceled due to non-coronavirus medical issue

UPDATE: This fight has been canceled due to a medical issue for Roberson that is unrelated to Covid-19.

A pair of middleweights that weren’t afraid to trash-talk each other at the weigh-in will need to go through each other as Karl Roberson takes on Marvin Vettori at UFC Jacksonville on Wednesday night. The fight is part of the preliminary card, which gets started at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Roberson missed weight by 1.5 pounds, so this will be a catchweight fight, and he’ll forfeit 20% of his purse no matter the result. It was one point of contention between the two, who weren’t afraid to jaw with each other as Dana White kept them separated during the staredowns.

Roberson is 30 years of age and is 9-2, while Vettori is 14-4-1 for his career and a bit younger at 27. Vettori is the -177 favorite, and is getting most of the action with 74% of the bets and 89% of the cash backing him. Whether the weight miss by Roberson was a factor for bettors we just aren’t sure, but it shows the sharp community seems to be strongly behind “The Italian Dream.”
