The Bundesliga is set to restart on May 16th after shutting down amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Most teams have nine or 10 games left to play, and DraftKings Sportsbook is taking bets on what player will finish as the league’s top assist man. We break down the odds of some of the top contenders here.
Thomas Müller (+100)
Bayern Munich’s Müller led the Bundesliga with 14 in the 2017-18 season. He ranked second in the league the previous season with 13. His league-leading 16 assists makes him the favorite by a narrow margin, and having the league leading scorer in Robert Lewandowski alongside him could give him an edge over the competition.
Jadon Sancho (+120)
Sancho led the league with 17 assists last season has the best shot at catching Muller. The Borrussia Dortmund winger is the third highest scorer in the league with 14 goals, but also has 15 assists to his name. Dortmund has a well-rounded offensive attack with plenty of other assist men though. Achraf Hakimi and Thorgan Hazard both have 10 assists and are top five assist men. While Sancho doesn’t trail Muller by much, having so many quality distributors around him while being Dortmund’s top scorer could make things tough moving forward though.
Christopher Nkunku (+800)
Leipzig’s Nkunku has the third best odds and has 12 assists on the year. His team has the third most productive offense with 62 goals this season and the league’s second leading goal scorer in Timo Werner. He has a chance to climb into the hunt and could benefit from the tough defenses Bayern has to face down the stretch.
