Thompson joins a back-field led by Leonard Fournette. Thompson’s primary competition will be Ryquell Armstead, but Thompson should hold his own as the team’s pass-catching back. Fournette caught 76 receptions for the Jaguars last season, but he has had his ups and downs in that department.
Thompson has never had more than 68 rushing attempts in a season, but has consistently surpassed 50 targets and 35 receptions for much of his time in Washington. In 11 games last season, he caught 42 of 58 targets for 378 yards.
Thompson is an RB4 at best in PPR leagues for the time being, in large part because he can’t stay healthy. He appeared in 11 games last season and ten each of the previous two seasons. He appeared in 16 games in 2016, but otherwise has never played a full season. He’s a flier late in deeper drafts and someone to keep on your waiver radar if he shows he can stay healthy.
