Boosted odds on Broncos 2020 win total

The Broncos will be relying on a lot of young talent in 2020. We break down the win total considerations on the first day of legal sports betting in Colorado.

The state of Colorado officially launched sports betting on Friday, May 1st, and that means Denver Broncos fans in the Centennial State will be able to bet on their team this season!

DraftKings Sportsbook has gone live in Colorado, and to celebrate the launch, they are offering a promo odds boost specific to the Broncos. The team’s current win total is set at 7.5 with both sides priced at -110 following the 2020 NFL Draft. The odds boost is on betting the over of 6.5 wins and you’ll get even money (+100) odds.

For those new to the world of sports betting, let’s run through what those numbers and terminology mean.

Win total: You are betting a team will win more or less than that total. If you bet the over, you think they’ll win more games. If you bet the under, you think they’ll win less games. The odds are set at 7.5 wins, but the boost is lowering that to 6.5.

Price: We mention -110 and +100 for the price. -110 means you have to bet $110 to win $100, while +100 means if you bet $100 and win the bet, you win $100. A minus sign indicates the favored amount.

The Broncos are coming off a 2019 season in which rookie quarterback Drew Lock offered some signs of growth after he replaced Joe Flacco in the starting lineup. In five games, Lock completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards at 6.5 yards per attempt and threw seven touchdowns to three interceptions.

The Broncos made some big additions on the defensive side of the ball with the additions of defensive end Jurrell Casey and cornerback A.J. Bouye. On the offensive side of the ball, they have given Lock several new weapons. They signed free agent running back Melvin Gordon in March and drafted wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler last week. Expectations are growing for Lock with the additions, but if he can grow from his rookie season, the over on this win total is an intriguing number.
