A.J. Green back at 100 percent ahead of 2020 season, Zac Taylor says

A.J. Green is back at 100 percent according to the Bengals’ head coach. We break down how he could affect Cincinnati’s success in 2020.

Things are looking up for the Cincinnati Bengals despite finishing with the worst record (2-14) in the league last season. Head coach Zac Taylor said during a virtual press conference Wednesday that wideout A.J. Green is back at 100 percent after missing all of last season with an ankle injury. He’ll add some firepower to a Bengals offense that’s looking to turn things around.

Cincinnati used its franchise tag on Green ahead of the 2020 season, and it did so with good reason. The seven-time Pro Bowl player has served as Andy Dalton’s security blanket since the duo entered the league. Dalton has a 99.5 career passer rating when throwing to Green between 2015 and 2019, but that number drops to 86.7 when throwing to anyone else.

Green will likely do something similar for Joe Burrow — the presumptive top pick of the 2020 NFL Draft — as he makes his transition to the pros. Let’s break down Green’s fantasy football impact.

Fantasy football analysis: Bengals WR A.J. Green

Green has been a top 10 fantasy wideout in four of the seven healthy seasons he has under his belt. He is averaging more than 1,200 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in years where he plays more than 10 games and should be able to assert himself as a top 15 target at the very least.

Green’s ability to haul in circus catches will raise the ceiling of Joe Burrow, who had two of the most productive wideouts in the country at LSU last season. A top notch player like Green might not make Burrow elite, but he could help the rookie climb as high as the top 20 in year one.
