There’s still one more night of WrestleMania 2020, and if you missed last night’s show, you can catch up here for the match results, and here for the running commentary from four of us that were sometimes impressed, and other times pretty not happy with this card.
But we know we’ve got seven matches tonight, and last night’s show provided enough entertaining spots to bring us back. The ladder match finish was great, KO jumping off the WrestleMania sign onto Seth Rollins was pretty cool as well, and everyone seemed pretty happy with how The Undertaker-AJ Styles short film turned out.
So we don’t have the match order for tonight yet, but here’s who we know is grapplin’:
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (WWE Championship)
McIntyre won the Royal Rumble, which allows the winner to challenge anyone he chooses for a championship in a WrestleMania main event. He picked Brock Lesnar, and these two hosses will exchange German suplexes and Claymore kicks on the regular it would appear. It might not be a one-hour broadway, but it should be fun.
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (NXT Women’s Championship)
Rhea Ripley not getting to hear that WrestleMania pop is a shame, but she’s probably got plenty more of them in her. She’s on her way to becoming the next great women’s superstar, and she faces the GOAT in that category tonight. The women’s division has been a lot more compelling for awhile in WWE, and great feuds like this one only add to it. No matter what happens tonight, remember Ripley is just 23 and has a great future. But hopefully she gets a better finish than Shayna Baszler did last night.
Bayley (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Naomi vs. Lacey Evans vs. Tamina Snuka (SmackDown Women’s Championship)
This was a six-way until Dana Brooke was pulled due to coronavirus concerns, and the build has shown Tamina Snuka as a monster heel. A bit more details here, but the friend/foe element between Bayley and Sasha will for sure be a factor in this match.
The Street Profits (c) vs. Austin Theory & Angel Garza (Raw Tag Team Championship)
Andrade’s real life rib injury gives spot to Austin Theory, who is going to get a big push despite being just 22 years old. The Street Profits have come through NXT and now the main roster as champs within one year, and as long as someone catches them when they fly outside the ring, win or lose they’ve got a future in the division.
Edge vs. Randy Orton (Last Man Standing match)
Dragging out two old guys at WrestleMania can be a crutch or a trope for the creative team sometimes, but not here. When Orton gave Edge an RKO right in the middle of the ring that no one saw coming after a nine-year absence, it didn’t make sense. But when Edge’s real-life wife Beth Phoenix got involved, the story really improved. These guys are also in great shape and can still have a terrific match.
John Cena vs. The Fiend Bray Wyatt (Firefly Fun House match)
We bet this looks a lot like last night’s Undertaker vs. AJ Styles match, and hopefully it’s as well-received as that one was. Some people still cant believe Cena beat Wyatt back at WrestleMania 30, and Wyatt lacks a real WrestleMania moment on his resume. The Fiend character has been terrific, and excited to see what Wyatt can do with an off-site campus upon which to paint.
Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley
Black is terrific, but the build for this has been pointless. A good spot to reheat some pizza and use the restroom, hopefully it comes in the middle of the card.
