The Seattle Seahawks added some quarterback depth by signing Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon. Gordon was one of the most productive players in college football last season but will be backing up Russell Wilson as a rookie.
Gordon tallied 5,579 passing yards in his lone year as a starter in 2019, which was second to only LSU’s Joe Burrow. He also ranked second in the country in passing touchdowns (48) while leading the nation in passing attempts (869) and completions (493).
Scouting Report
Gordon’s small frame is cause for concern considering the level of physicality in the NFL. However, he does have great touch and excels at throwing the long ball. He can be reckless and is willing to throw into traffic, which could be dangerous against better defenders. He needs to develop quite a bit but has natural talent that could make him lethal with more training.
Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon is miles away from being a refined prospect but there is enough appeal for him to be considered a worthy developmental guy. His arm talent, delivery and flashes of accuracy are solid traits to build upon — The Draft Network’s Joe Marino
Fantasy football impact
Don’t pay much attention to Gordon this season. While he’s the Seahawks only other signal caller aside from Wilson, he shouldn’t see the field anytime soon. Seattle hopes Wilson can be an elite starter for years to come and will likely sign another quarterback or two before 2020. Geno Smith could re-sign this offseason, and there are other players who are better for a contender like Seattle.
