The NFL Draft can often be a tedious affair. There is intrigue in who will be picked and we get the back story of hundreds of new players, but for team executives and the league, there is not much to get excited about.
The 2020 NFL Draft has changed that thanks to the virtual nature of it. Normally teams are holed up at their facilities and the event takes place at a huge event space with all sorts of glitz and glamour. This year, due to social distancing requirements because of the Covid-19 pandemic, almost every single person taking part in the draft is doing it from home. And that’s creating all sorts of amusing moments.
The latest, and arguably the best, belongs to Bill Belichick and his dog Nike. At one point in the second round, ESPN’s broadcast showed Belichick’s draft room. He had been sitting in what looked like a dining room of sorts, but for this shot, we did not get Belichick. Above the lower third “Bill Belichick Head Coach”, we saw his dog, an Alaskan Klee Kai.

Eventually Belichick walked into the room and gave him a treat for being a good boy. Maybe this came following a particularly useful suggestion to the Patriots head coach.

With nobody around but immediately family, it makes sense that Belichick would be hanging with his dog in the war room. We previously heard of Joe Judge and his dog Abby doing work leading up to the draft. Now we get Belichick’s dog Nike maybe offering a little bit of insight on some options to reload the Patriots!
This is not our first introduction to Nike. Here’s some video a couple years back of Belichick enjoying time with Nike.
