Browns draft Harrison Bryant with No. 115 pick

The Cleveland Browns added free agent tight end Austin Hooper this offseason but look to add depth with their 115th pick, Harrison Bryant. Bryant is a player who has the offensive chops to succeed in the NFL and could take the place of David Njoku who appears to be on the trade block.

Bryant switched from offensive lineman to tight end as a senior in high school, which hurt his ability to get interest from bigger schools — but playing at Florida Atlantic also gave him more offensive chances to show his ability. In his final season, he hit 1,004 yards on 65 receptions and won the John Mackey Award for being the top tight end in the country.

Scouting Report

Bryant’s doesn’t have the combine numbers you’d look for a Top-3 fantasy tight end, but we aren’t looking for that with Bryant. He’s capable of becoming a strong offensive tight end, as he has talent to separate from defenders and line up all over the field.

Fantasy football impact

Rookie

Bryant’s short term fantasy outlook isn’t good behind Hooper. He’ll need a Hooper injury to have any chance at rookie fantasy value.

Long-term

Bryant has the ability to be a starting tight end and fantasy asset throughout his career, but his upside is more Austin Hooper than Rob Gronkowski. Last year’s draft was much better for tight ends and there are quite a few of them biding their time and Bryant will likely be in their position early in his career, but with a little luck, he will be a solid fantasy producer.
