The Philadelphia Eagles found a weapon for quarterback Carson Wentz in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After being repeatedly linked to TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor, the team selected him with the 21st pick of the first round.
Our friends at Bleeding Green Nation understand the pick, but were also disappointed CeeDee Lamb came tantalizingly close to Philly. Eagles fans are a little all over the place with their grades of the pick, which is fitting given that media grades ranged from A- to C-. He’s a guy with upside, but some feel Justin Jefferson would have been the better pick.
Regardless, Reagor is an Eagle, and it’s time to figure out expectations. DraftKings Sportsbook has posted various odds for some of the notable rookie picks in the first round. For Reagor, you can bet on his chances of winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and whether or not he’ll go over 800.5 receiving yards as a rookie.
Reagor is currently installed at +2000 to win OROY. The early favorite is Joe Burrow at +200, followed by Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Tua Tagovailoa at +700. Quarterbacks and running backs are regular winners of the OROY award, with Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014 as the last non-QB/RB winner. Nine wide receivers have won the AP OROY award dating back to 1967.
Among the rookie receivers taken in the first round, Jerry Jeudy (Broncos) has the highest receiving yards over/under at 850.5. Reagor is tied with Henry Ruggs (Raiders) and Justin Jefferson (Vikings) at 800.5. CeeDee Lamb (Cowboys) is at 750.5. Last season, four rookie receivers surpassed 800 yards for the season. A.J. Brown led the way with 1,051 yards, followed by Terry McLaurin (919), DK Metcalf (900), and Deebo Samuel (802).
