Best lineup strategy for Bucs vs. Rams Madden simulation Showdown

Jared Goff could be a big-time captain’s play against the Buccaneers’ underwhelming defensive backs.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (16) prepares to throw the ball in the first half against the Arizona Cardinals in the final Rams home game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before moving to SoFi Stadium for the 2020 season.  Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams will face off in a Thursday Madden sim at. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS centered around the contest here contest. You can set your lineup on DraftKings before kickoff.

Captain’s Picks

Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers ($14,700)

Chris Godwin came up with a goose egg in his last appearance. That’s right. He didn’t record a single reception while Evans exploded with seven receptions for 99 yards and a score. While Evans could be more challenged by Jalen Ramsey in this matchup, he’s basically notched 100 receiving yards in four of the five simulations he’s been a part of.

Jared Goff, QB, Rams ($15,000)

Typically I’d go with a consistent producer like Jameis Winston, but I don’t trust his 75 awareness against the best defense he’s faced so far. Ramsey is a step up from Byron Jones, and Los Angeles also has a pass rush led by the best defensive lineman in the game (Aaron Donald). He’ll be under some pressure I think he has a good chance to cough up a pick or two. Goff has a plethora of capable pass catchers who can torch Tampa Bay’s defensive backs.

Flex Men

Dare Ogunbowale, RB, Buccaneers ($1,400)

Despite being an RB3, Ogunbowale has outplayed both the players ahead of him on the depth chart consistently. He’s getting solid volume in terms of carries and is also dominating through the air. He’s been involved early for his team through multiple sims and might be the best value play in this contest.

Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams ($9,400)

The Buccaneers’ top cornerback has a 76 rating. Kupp, who has 95 catching, has a good chance to dominate this matchup if enough balls are thrown his way. Other receivers could also benefit from this, but Kupp is the top dog. Consider swapping him out for the cheaper Robert Woods ($8,000) though.
