The Dallas Cowboys have selected Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He joins Amari Cooper to provide Dak Prescott with a heck of a one-two punch at the wide receiver position.

Lamb was one of the most productive wideouts in college football last year. He ranked sixth in the country in receiving yards (1,327) and fifth in touchdown catches (14) in his third season with the Sooners. He led his team in receptions (62) by a wide margin and ranked third in the nation in yards per reception (21.4) as well.

Scouting Report

Lamb has a diverse route tree and excels at creating separation. He was sturdy hands that can secure the ball consistently away from his body, and has the focus to come down with passes that have been tipped. He also runs with force after hauling the ball in to rack up yards after the catch. He isn’t the most explosive athlete when it comes to speed, but his other skills make up for his lack of elite burst.

Fantasy football impact

Rookie

Lamb was initially expected to be a WR1, but it looks he’ll be in a serious battle for targets with Cooper and Michael Gallup already on the roster. Randall Cobb was Dallas’ WR3 and notched 838 yards. He was WR46 in standard leagues, so Lamb could crack the top 50 with another good year from Prescott.

Long-term

Lamb has some serious fantasy upside. His big play potential is illustrated be his average yardage per reception, and he’s proved that he can carry a team as a primary target. He’ll likely be expected to serve as a WR1 in his rookie season. His should finish toward the top among rookies and has the potential to be a top perennial top 10 fantasy receiver in time.
