Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning will golf on TV for charity

We might be getting some top-flight competitive golf coming to your tv soon.

According to a release from Bleacher Report, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning will participate in an event titled “The Match: Champions for Charity” sometime in May.

The event is to air on TNT live, but without spectators in the gallery. Though the date hasn’t been selected, according to Bob Harig of ESPN Memorial Day weekend is a possibility.

Woods and Mickelson have done this before, with The Match at Shadow Creek near Las Vegas in November of 2018. Mickelson won on the fourth extra hole, and took home $9 million, still the richest prize for a single golf event ever.

The format of this event has yet to be determined, and all parties have said they’ll work with local and state governments to make sure things are handled safely. The PGA Tour will also need to sign off as it has to approve events for all Tour members as they exclusively hold the marketing rights.

But assuming these hurdles can be cleared, we could be looking for one afternoon of live sports action with world-class athletes on our tv’s soon. And that’s sounds pretty good right now.
