Best, sleeper options to consider for NASCAR iRacing DFS at Richmond on DraftKings

This series started out as fun, but turns into more serious competition each week due to the success of the ratings and the sponsor buy-in for virtual racing.

The hottest virtual racing series of the spring, the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, heads to Richmond today for 150 laps at one of the most beloved short tracks in the sport. DraftKings has a DFS contest around the race, and this week will test the brakes of the drivers virtually instead of having them heat up in real life after two taps per lap. You can enter today’s contests here.

While there’s no live scoring for eNASCAR DFS contests, you’ll be able to see the results about an hour after the race is complete. Each entry will consist of $50,000 and a six-racer field. Each driver will gain or lose a point for place differential from their starting position, get 0.5 points each time they finish with the fastest lap, and receive 0.25 points for each lap they lead. And with that in mind, let’s make best bets and sleeper options for today’s 1 p.m. ET race!

Best Bets

William Byron ($11,000)

Eat the chalk, because he’s dominating this series like no one else. He won at Bristol in a walk, leading 116 of 150 laps. He led 80 of 125 the race before when Timmy Hill spun him out. He’s just better than everyone else, and it’s worth paying the $2700 price over an average drive for him. Byron’s experience in iRacing remains too big an edge for the field right now.

John H. Nemechek ($9600)

He’s starting to figure this thing out. After running 30th in the opener at Homestead, he started third and then second in the last two races. He also finished second at Bristol, showing he can qualify ahead.

Sleeper Picks

Bubba Wallace ($7000)

After his rage quit in the last race at Bristol cost him a sponsor, we’re thinking Wallace will be on his best behavior this weekend. His rise and fire two weeks ago made sense as much as he was getting bumped all over the track to the point it was ridiculous. And with his thoughtful comments regarding the Kyle Larson controversy last week, Wallace knows all eyes will be on him. We think he performs here, and the rest of the field gives him room to race.

Joey Logano ($7700)

The biggest worry with Logano is all the guys he’s spun out in real cars might want some revenge in the virtual ones. But he seems to be figuring this thing out, and booked six fastest laps at Bristol last week in a 17th place finish. Say what you want about “Sliced Bread,” but the guy knows how to drive anything with an engine. And he’s competitive enough where he’s going to get better each week.
