Why Mike Evans should go over his receiving yards total in 2020

Tom Brady joining the Buccaneers will have a positive effect on Mike Evans’ receiving yards total in 2020. We break down his over/under for this season.

Mike Evans has been one of the most consistent wide receivers in the NFL since he entered the pros in 2014. He has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards an all six of his seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and finished with 1,157 in 13 games.

DraftKings Sportsbook set Evans’ over/under for total receiving yards in 2020 at 1,200.5. We think he’ll blow by that with ease now that he has a new quarterback to work with in Tom Brady.

Prediction: Over 1,200.5

Evans is one of the most dominant receivers around and is the top dog in Tampa Bay, but has only cracked the top 10 in targets in six years. While the emergence of Chris Godwin will play a factor in his production, he’s inheriting a signal caller who threw to Julian Edelman 158 times last season. That was the third highest mark in the league.

Evans recorded career lows in receptions (67), targets (118) in 2019, but still only missed thje 2020 over/under number by 43 yards. If you give Evans 16 games with a Brady, who has his favorite pass catcher crack the top six in targets seven times since 2009, he’ll produce at a high level.
