Julio Jones has continued to be one of the most productive wideouts in the NFL. He tallied 1,394 receiving yards last season and fell short of 1,400 receiving yards for the first time since 2013, when he played in just five games.
Jones trailed only Michael Thomas in receiving yards last season, and DraftKings Sportsbook has his over/under set at 1,400.5 for 2020. We think he’ll hit that mark because of the offensive firepower Atlanta has lost this offseason.
Prediction: Over 1,400.5
The Falcons lost two of their top five receivers this offseason in Austin Hooper and Devonta Freeman. Hooper opted to sign with the Cleveland Browns while Freeman was released. They also traded Mohamed Sanu to the New England Patriots.
Atlanta brought in Todd Gurley in free agency, but he won’t be productive enough to prevent Calvin Ridley and Jones from having to pick up the slack. The Falcons’ new tight end won’t match Hooper’s 787 receiving yards from 2019. Jones’ should have to be relied on more with less offensive talent. He’s Matt Ryan’s go-to receiver and had the second most targets (157) in the NFL last season. It’s hard to see him dropping off in this situation, even with the Falcons likely to add more talent in the draft.
