Utah Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell had a conversation on Saturday in a step towards mending their relationship, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported. The two players had issues stemming from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak that initially caused the NBA to suspend the regular season. Haynes reports there’s more to be done, but this is a good sign for both parties.
It was March 11 when the Utah Jazz were set to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in OKC. Rudy Gobert was said to be dealing with an illness that was going to hold him out. Next thing we know, officials and players are refusing to go out on the court, the game is postponed and the season came to a grinding halt. Gobert and Mitchell both tested positive for COVID-19 and were sent to self-isolation. Both were asymptomatic and are feeling fine right now.
The issue is something must have happened in the week leading up to the League stopping due to the outbreak. We saw first hand how careless Gobert was about coronavirus before the NBA went on hiatus. He’s apologized and we’ve forgiven him. People make mistakes and I’m sure he’s doing his best right now to help fight the outbreak. So the issue is on its way to being resolved, which is good considering there are hopes the NBA can start to think about a return.
