Report: NBA prepping plan to return to basketball

The League is putting into place a 25-day return to basketball window that would allow teams to prepare for the NBA to resume.

The NBA is putting together a plan for when basketball resume, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst outlined in a report Sunday. Windhorst says in the video that the NBA has been working hard to get into place steps it will take to resume actual games. The 25-day plan would help ease players back into action, rather than rushing things and risking injury. The NBA has been on break since March 11 due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The NBA would implement the 15-day plan that would include an 11-day series of individual workouts to gain clearance for basketball activities. After that, Windhorst says the NBA would use a 14-day training camp that would allow for 5-on-5 scrimmages and teams to get back up to NBA speed. So the speculation here is that the NBA would take at least 3-4 weeks before regular-season games return. We don’t know when the League plans to announce any type of plan for a return. Until then, we can only speculate off of reports such as these.
