Defenders bench Cardale Jones early vs. BattleHawks

Cardale Jones might have officially lost his starting job to Tyree Jackson.

The DC Defenders haven’t liked what they’ve seen from Cardale Jones Sunday against the St. Louis BattleHawks. They benched the signal caller in the first quarter for Tyree Jackson after he went 0-for-2 with zero yards and an interception in the first quarter. Jones has now thrown six interceptions with no scores in his last three appearances, but Jackson has provided a nice spark.

Jackson subbed in for Jones in the fourth quarter of Weeks 3 and 4 and completed a nine-yard touchdown pass in his first drive against the BattleHawks, putting DC up 6-3 heading into the second quarter. Whether he can keep it up and give the Defenders’ offense life remains to be seen.
