Seattle Dragons at Houston Roughnecks injury report

Who is out or questionable for Week 5 of the new and improved XFL? We break down the Seattle and Houston final injury reports.

Houston will try to extend their undefeated start to five games as they host the Seattle Dragons on Saturday. Seattle comes in as -12.5 underdogs and will have to play inspired football to steal a win in Houston. Last week we did see Seattle get a spark from B.J. Daniels who came in for the inept Brandon Silvers and throw a touchdown and ran for 84 yards on seven carries to almost bring his team back for the win. Coach Jim Zorn hasn’t named a starter yet and could play both this week, which sounds like a recipe for disaster.

The Roughnecks have four players out and one listed as questionable. Wide receiver Sammie Coates is out with a hamstring injury. His absence sounds worse than it is, as he has seen his work relegated to part-time, as he’s been splitting work with Sam Mobley. Mobley should now get a full complement of snaps.

Probably the biggest loss is defensive lineman Kony Ealy, who will miss with a shoulder injury. Ealy has been a strong contributor with nine quarterback pressures on the season.

Wide receiver Kahil Lewis was limited in practice with a groin injury and is listed as questionable. Lewis is second in targets for the Roughnecks, so his absence would cause a big shakeup and we’d likely see a big bump in work for Blake Jackson with extra targets for Cam Phillips and Nick Holley.

Of the other players who are out, none have played much this season and aren’t going to impact the game with their absence.

The Dragons will again be without Kasen Williams, which begs the question, why didn’t they put him on IR, as he has yet to play this season. Anthony Moten and Johnathan Alston have barely played and Moten’s one target against him on the season went for a 31-yard touchdown.
