It’s been an interesting season for junior guard Alterique Gilbert, who is in danger of missing UConn’s final home game of the season.

UPDATE 7:13 p.m. Gilbert is in the starting lineup for the Huskies.

Connecticut Huskies junior guard Alterique Gilbert is questionable for Thursday night’s matchup against the Houston Cougars. He is dealing with backs spasms that could force him to sit out. Depending on what Gilbert decides to do after the season, it’s possible this is his last home game with UConn.

It’s been an interesting season for Gilbert, who lost his starting spot and missed a game for personal reasons. He appeared in 28 of the Huskies’ 29 games this season and averaged 8.4 points, 3.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

UConn will also be without reserve sophomore forward Sidney Wilson, who is suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. He missed Saturday’s victory over the East Carolina Pirates and will sit out tonight’s game.

The Huskies are playing well as of late with three consecutive victories over South Florida, UCF an East Carolina. UConn and Houston played each other on Jan. 23 and the Cougars won 63-59 at home. Gilbert scored eight points on 3 of 11 shooting with four assists and three rebounds. He also turned the ball over six times.

UConn comes into tonight’s game as two-point home underdogs against Houston with the over/under set at 133 at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Huskies are not a bubble team and do not have much to play for while the Cougars are hoping to improve their seed line before the start of the AAC Tournament.
