Best lineup strategy for Clippers vs. Rockets NBA Showdown

Can the Rockets bounce back from a loss to the Knicks? We break down the featured Showdown contest on DraftKings.

The Los Angeles Clippers come into tonight on a five-game winning streak, while the Houston Rockets are coming off a loss at the hands of the New York Knicks. Will Houston’s small ball get back on track in a potential playoff series preview?

Who should I use in the Captain’s spot?

James Harden ($18,900)

Despite the Clippers having a great defense, they have been average against shooting guards. Since they allow the fifth fewest DKFP, we could see more of the usage go the way of Harden as opposed to Russell Westbrook tonight. This is likely part of the reason that Harden has had more success against Los Angeles amongst the Rockets’ two All-Stars. He’s scored over 70 DKFP in two of the three games these teams have met.

Who should I stack?

Paul George ($9,200)

George has played limited minutes since coming back from a hamstring injury, but it’s likely due to one-sided games. Four of the Clippers’ last five games have been decided by double-digits. I expect PG to play his regular minutes going forward and Houston allows more DKFP to small forwards than any other team in the league.

Where can I find value?

Jeff Green ($1,000)

There are a handful of star quality players in this game that we want exposure to and a lack of injuries opening up value. As a result, I am looking all the way down the pricing to punt with Jeff Green. He’s carved out a role in the Rockets’ small ball rotation and is averaging 15.88 DKFP since coming to Houston. For his salary, an average game from Green would be more than enough production since he allows us to fit in some All-Stars.

Who should I fade?

Montrezl Harrell ($8,200)

Since Harrell is a bit pricey, I don’t like his salary when I am prioritizing trying to fit the All-Stars into lineups. There’s also an issue with his playing time. His minutes aren’t always consistent coming off the bench, making him tough to trust. On top of all this, Harrell is dealing with an ankle injury. Even though it isn’t expected to hold him out of tonight’s game, it could limit his production.
