There are nine games on the NBA schedule for Wednesday night after we had an exciting eight-gamer on Tuesday. I don’t know if we can 1-up the previous slate, but we’re damn-sure going to try. Here are some top targets at each position for Wednesday night’s main nine-game slate on DraftKings.
Point Guard
CJ McCollum, POR vs. WAS, $8,600 — The Trail Blazers are expected to get Damian Lillard (groin) back in the lineup tonight. I think that’s why the price on CJ is so low and I’m liking the spot a lot for McCollum. Dame could be on a minutes restriction coming off of injury and I can see him deferring to McCollum a bit. Plus, the Wizards are on the second night of a back-to-back and the Blazers could pull away at home. If that’s the case, we shouldn’t see much of Dame getting in the way of CJ’s scoring.
Other Options: Marcus Smart, BOS @ CLE, $7,000; Coby White, CHI @ MIN, $6,200
Shooting Guard
Caris LeVert, BKN vs. MEM, $7,200 — How many times do we get a player coming off of 51 points and their price stays the same? Not many. LeVert dropped a career high against the Celtics on Tuesday night and the Nets get a quick turnaround at home. The Grizzlies play up in pace, so you can argue this is a better matchup for LeVert. I’d expect his ownership to be high given the recent performances, but I think LeVert makes some sense in both cash and GPPs. His price is appealing for chalk and his ceiling works for tournaments.
Other Options: Bradley Beal, WAS @ POR, $10,600
Small Forward
Otto Porter Jr., CHI @ MIN, $5,400 — The Bulls are getting healthy and the Timberwolves — despite a win — just allowed 134 points to the Pelicans. Porter returned to the lineup and was limited to 17 minutes. The good thing is he scored 18 points. Bulls coach Jim Boylen already said Porter and Wendell Carter Jr. are going to play more minutes tonight. I don’t think they’ll hold Porter back and if he gets around 25 minutes, value seems inevitable. Stacking the Bulls for value is a strategy I like tonight.
Other Options: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC @ DET, $7,400; Kevin Porter Jr., CLE vs. BOS, $5,300
Power Forward
Kevin Love, CLE vs. BOS, $7,700 — So my colleague Julian Edlow believes the Celtics are going to be without a bunch of regulars tonight. If that’s the case, it could be a great spot for the Cavaliers. Even if the Celtics are only without Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward, they still lack size to deal with Love. Boston on the second of a back-to-back, going on the road, no Andre Drummond and potentially Tristan Thompson for the Cavs ... it seems like a perfect storm for Love, who is underpriced.
Other Options: Julius Randle, NYK vs. UTA, $7,700; Juancho Hernangomez, MIN vs. CHI, $5,600
Center
Hassan Whiteside, POR vs. WAS, $9,500 — I mentioned the spot the Blazers are in against the Wizards. Whiteside is a great GPP option since Washington is among the worst defensive teams — particularly on the glass and in the paint. The last time Whiteside faced the Wizards he had 23 points, 21 rebounds and five blocks for over 60 DKFP. That’s the ceiling we’re looking at in this matchup. The Wizards just don’t have the front court bodies to deal with the 7-footer.
Other Options: Jonas Valanciunas, MEM @ BKN, $7,800; Steven Adams, OKC @ DET, $6,700
