The West Coast Conference is dominated by the Gonzaga Bulldogs typically every season, and 2019-20 was no different. Gonzaga comes in at 15-1 in conference play and 29-2 overall, currently ranked second in the entire country. With all those factors, the Bulldogs are massive favorites to win this tournament.
Despite the odds in Gonzaga’s favor, the WCC has the BYU Cougars and Saint Mary’s Gaels firmly in the NCAA Tournament according to many of the Bracketology sites. Both teams won 24 games this season, but they combined to lose all four games by double digits to Gonzaga. Third time’s a charm, right?
BYU comes in with the second best odds to win the tournament. The Cougars are led by Yoeli Childs, who appeared in just 18 games due to a nine-game suspension to start the season for improper draft paperwork and missed some time with an injury. He is averaging 22.2 points per game and 8.9 rebounds, hitting nearly 50% of his 3-pointers.
If you’re craving a longshot, Pacific and San Francisco are playing well, entering tournament play on three-game winning streaks.
After Gonzaga won this tournament six years in a row, Saint Mary’s took the title last season as the Bulldogs try to get it back.
