Wide receiver rankings for 2020 fantasy football: Post free agency

Can anyone knock Michael Thomas off his best fantasy football receiver hill in 2020?

Free agency is tidying up after it crashed through the NFL window and rearranged the furniture, so it’s time to get you, our loyal reader, some updated fantasy rankings for the 2020 season.

The NFL Draft will move rankings around a bit, as top drafted wide receivers will push out secondary receivers on their new teams. We will of course have a fresh set of rankings after the draft, but for now, check out our post-free agency wide receiver rankings below:

Tier 1

Michael Thomas probably should get his own tier, as he’s unstoppable, so let’s do it. Thomas is your only Tier 1 receiver. That doesn’t make him a lock to break the receptions record again or walk away with the most wide receiver fantasy points, but his consistency and health coupled with Drew Brees and Sean Payton’s offense puts him head and shoulders above the crowd.

Tier 2

Your usual suspects are in Tier 2 with Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans all bunched up behind Thomas. All seven of these receivers can make a run at the No. 1 spot as long as they and their quarterbacks can stay healthy.

Free Agency Fallout

DeAndre Hopkins is the best receiver to move to a new team this offseason. It’s still hard to comprehend this move. Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns was huge, but Hopkins is, without a doubt, a Top-3 receiver and has been for multiple seasons now. Finding a player like Hopkins is nearly impossible and the Cardinals got him for nothing.

With the Texans, he saw a huge target percentage, but also put up big numbers with some of the worst quarterbacks in the league throwing him the ball. He might not see 30 percent of the targets in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, but he will be the No. 1 target on a team that is going to throw the ball a lot.

Stefon Diggs will be the no-doubt No. 1 in Buffalo, but he’ll also be on a run-first team. Much will depend on Josh Allen, who has shown he can be a good fantasy quarterback due to his rushing ability but he also needs to improve as a passer.

Emmanuel Sanders was a nice get by the Saints, as they had to rely too much on Michael Thomas. This is a great move for the Saints efforts to get another Super Bowl out of Drew Brees, but as the No. 2 receiver in New Orleans, Sanders should also see a nice bump in efficiency and fantasy stats.
