Best lineup strategy for Seahawks vs. 49ers Madden simulation Showdown

DraftKings continues their Showdown DFS contests from simulated Madden games this weekend. We break down the best lineup strategy for Sunday’s Seahawks-Niners matchup.

Today’s 7 p.m. ET Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers simulated DFS game at DraftKings will be played with a computer using Madden NFL ‘20, instead of using random game lines from the 2019-20 season. Therefore today’s scores will be based on a simulation of Madden ‘20 game play you’ll be able to watch while it happens.

Scoring will mirror a regular NFL DFS contest, and rosters will not reflect any moves made following the 2019 season. So if you’re a Seattle fan and can’t wait to see Greg Olson on the field, that’s not going to work as he was signed after the season and won’t be virtually suiting up today.

You can watch the simulation in real time as DraftKings will provide a streaming link for each game where players can watch each game live. These games can also be watched within the Contest Gamecenter.

We take a crack at the best lineup strategy for the matchup of one Captain’s Pick (worth 50% extra for every point they add) and five flex spots below:

Captain’s Picks

Russell Wilson: $16,800

In a game that should be a defensive battle, it’s possible no receiver or running back really breaks free and puts up a big number. It’s why Wilson is so valuable here, as he’ll be forced to spread the ball around in the passing game, and can also take off whenever SF’s Mike linebacker Fred Warner is in coverage instead of zone or spy. The downside here is just too risky.

Emmanuel Sanders $12,300

With the run game stuffed up, Sanders has a good chance of getting loose against a Seattle defense that’s not exactly the Legion of Boom anymore in a virtual sense. Shaquill Griffin is the best cover corner for the Niners with an 84 rating, while Sanders is an 89. If Griffin isn’t on him, the next best is Tre Flowers at 77. And it only goes down from there.

Flex Picks

George Kittle $14,100

With a monstrous 97 Madden rating, Kittle still has value even at this price. He should be Garopollo’s primary target in the red zone, and should dust K.J. Wright (81 rating) and Shaquem Griffin (73) in coverage.

Marshawn Lynch $3,600

Will the simulator factor in Born Ready will be playing against a team from his hometown?? Either way, just $3600 for a player with an 84 rating in the game is very strong. Yes he’ll be backing up Chris Carson, but the savings here might be worth it to spend on other players that can also have a massive game. If Lynch can get even 35% of the carries and touches of Carson (86 rating, $12,900 salary), that would be great value here.
