The New York Giants are set to have the fourth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and DraftKings Sportsbook is taking bets on who they will select first. They’re expected to focus on fortifying their offensive line or building their defense. We break down what outcomes are most likely.

New York needs strength up front. It ranked toward the bottom of the league when converting or getting first downs or scoring on third and fourth down attempts with two yards or less to go. According to Football Outsiders, New York fell short on 39% of their opportunities in in power-running situations like this last season. The Giants’ running backs were also stopped at or behind the line of scrimmage on 20% of their attempts. There are a few candidates New York could add to the front line that could push the pile and protect Daniel Jones.

Mekhi Becton (+275) has the best odds to be the first offensive lineman off the board Jedrick Wills (+350) and Tristan Wirfs (+350) are other offensive line options and are tied for the second best odds in the field. Andrew Thomas (+600) ranks fourth in the odds as far as offensive lineman go.

The Giants might need an offensive lineman most, but they could go with the best player available. That player might be linebacker Isaiah Simmons (+350), who is dead even with Wills and Wirfs in the odds. New York has already added Blake Martinez, who led all linebackers in tackles (155) last season, to its linebacker group. But he struggled in coverage. That’s where Simmons comes in. He will likely be the second defensive player off the board, behind Chase Young (+1000), who could go as high as second overall. Simmons can line up as a traditional linebacker, rush the passer, and also assist the Giants in pass coverage thanks to his exceptional speed.

Young could be a target for the Giants if they trade down. They aren’t looking to add a quarterback like Joe Burrow or Tua Tagovailoa with Jones entering his second season after an impressive rookie year. The priority for New York is protecting Jones and creating the best environment possible for Saquon Barkley to thrive in year three.
