As the Road to WrestleMania begins to head towards an exit ramp, let’s take a look at what we know about who will be competing at SmackDown tonight, airing on Fox TV at 8 p.m. ET. Check your local listings in the Mountain or Pacific time zones.
The Fiend Bray Wyatt will be opening the door to his ultra-creepy Firefly Funhouse ahead of his match with John Cena. It’s been a bit of a strange build for this match between The Face That Runs The Place and the Eater of Worlds, but strange often works best when Wyatt is involved.
Alexa Bliss is scheduled to compete against Asuka, and with neither of these Superstars having a match at WrestleMania for now, there’s a chance we could end up with them being a late add to the card. Both are big enough stars that it’s surprising for neither of them to be listed already.
The New Day & The Usos will face off for the 78,345th time in the last five years (all numbers approximate), with the winner likely taking on The Miz & John Morrison at ‘Mania. That would seem to be the path here. Which of these veteran teams will get the chance to be the WWE tag champions for the umpteenth time?
Whooo? Whooo? Whooo? We’ll take our chances with The New Day, unless the recent injury to Roman Reigns opens a spot for one of the threesome to matchup with Goldberg.
And finally Drew Gulak will take on Shinske Nakamura, and if he’s a winner, Daniel Bryan will take on Sami Zayn at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Championship. It’s a fun stipulation to have the buddies representing for each other to set up a match. And it likely means Gulak wins and sends Bryan to the main card.
Let’s see how things play out tonight on Fox, with just eight days until WrestleMania 36.
