The defending world champions don’t have a lot of cap space to work with but thankfully don’t have many big holes on their team. Adding cornerback Antonio Hamilton and offensive lineman Mike Remmers has been the extent of their free agency acquisitions so far. Those two provide depth, but aren’t game changers by any means.

Team needs
Offense
Keeping Patrick Mahomes happy is job one in this offense, so keeping the offensive line strong and adding receiving weapons are always a good idea. We saw what happened last season when Mahomes was hurt, so the Chiefs will want to do everything they can to keep that from happening again and the offensive line wasn’t perfect last season.
Defense
The weak link last year was the run defense and even though it stepped up when needed, the team needs to upgrade. They kept Chris Jones on the franchise tag, which was a must, but finding more run stuffing ability on the interior line is a strong need.
The Chiefs pass defense played well last season but they also played above their heads and could see regression if they don’t add some talent into the secondary. Kansas City will continue to play well offensively, which means teams will look to throw to keep up. Good cornerbacks will continue to be a priority.
Dream first pick
When you have the premier passer in the league, you keep him safe. Josh Jones is the wildcard at offensive line, as he could go mid-first round or at the beginning of the second round, as he isn’t as polished as the top offensive line prospects, but if he’s available, the Chiefs should snatch him up.
