Full list of Buffalo Bills 2020 NFL draft capital, needs, dream pick

The Buffalo Bills made a big move to trade for Stefon Diggs, giving quarterback Josh Allen a potential No. 1 receiver, providing him a strong 1-2 punch with Diggs and John Brown. Of course, that acquisition does limit their draft capital, as they gave up a first, fifth, and sixth-round pick from 2020, a 2021 fourth-round pick, and an undisclosed seventh-round pick in 2021 to the Vikings.

The Bills lost Shaq Lawson in free agency, but added DE Vernon Butler, OLB Mario Addison and OLB A.J. Klein to help make up for his loss. They also added cornerback Josh Norman to an already strong secondary.

Team needs

Offense

The addition of Diggs filled a hole the Bills were likely looking to use their first round pick on. They also kept their starting offensive line from last season, which wasn’t a great group, but continuity is always a huge part of building an offensive line.

The Bills could bring Frank Gore back to complement Devin Singletary, but the best move would be to find some running back talent in the draft. They did a good job grabbing Singletary last year with their 74th pick and could look at another back with their 54th or 86th overall pick, as they don’t have pressing needs that a pick in that range will fill easily.

Defense

The Bills ultimately want to control games with their defense while giving Allen good game script to work from. They have a strong overall defense, but upgrading their pass rush or secondary with their second or third pick will continue to make sense with this team.

Dream first pick

Depending on just one running back to get through 16+ games isn’t reasonable and with Frank Gore finally bottoming out, grabbing a young back is a good idea. We can assume D’Andre Swift and Jonathan Taylor are both gone before the 54th pick, even if they last to the second round, so that leaves J.K. Dobbins as the dream pick at that point. He may be gone, but if he’s there, the Bills will be happy.
