The 2020 NBA Draft may be delayed/pushed back due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. The NBA has been suspended for a little over one week due to coronavirus in the U.S. Givoney cites that the delay for the draft is partly due to lack of pre-draft events, including workouts, the combine and interviews with teams for the prospects. Without all these key ingredients, it’s hard to envision the NBA Draft starting on time.
Right now, NBA commissioner Adam Silver has stated the feeling is the NBA won’t be back until at least mid-June. If that’s the case, there could be a shift in the League calendar, in which the playoffs start this summer and the 2020-21 regular season begins in December, instead of October.
We just got some news on the NBA Draft front with Georgia G Anthony Edwards reportedly declaring for the upcoming draft. He was a freshman leading scorer for the Bulldogs this season before the NCAA was suspended similarly.
