Kristaps Porzingis will rest Monday vs. Bulls

As if things couldn’t get any crazier early on the slate ... the Mavericks will rest their big man against the Bulls. We break down the impact in fantasy basketball and betting.

Well, this has been an eventful Monday to say the least. The Dallas Mavericks are expected to rest big man Kristaps Porzingis for Monday night’s matchup vs. the Chicago Bulls at United Center. The Mavs are supposed to get Luka Doncic (thumb) back in the lineup after he sat out on Sunday night.

Fantasy basketball and betting analysis: Mavericks injury report

Also on the injury report for the Mavs is Seth Curry (back), who is questionable to play. Willie Cauley-Stein is also probable. This game has gone back and forth and we aren’t even at 2 PM ET. First, we got Luka Doncic being probable. Then the Bulls listed Zach LaVine as doubtful and Otto Porter will return. Now, Porzingis is going to rest. What’s next? Dirk Nowitzki is coming out of retirement?

Doncic ($10,300) will be a trendy GPP play if he gives it a go. Tim Hardaway Jr. ($6,500) and Maxi Kleber ($4,400) would be my other choices as far as DFS plays on DraftKings. Both would get more usage with Porzingis resting.

The betting side of this game is nutty. I still side with the Mavericks with LaVine doubtful. Even without Porzingis, Doncic should be enough to get Dallas past Chicago. The lines have been incredibly erratic with all the injury news, so it’s tough to get a gauge on which way to go. I still stand by saying the in-game lines may be the better way to approach this game. Or fade it altogether.
