The coronavirus outbreak has resulted in the American and most of the international sporting world coming to a screeching halt. UFC continued with an event in Brazil this past weekend. Bellator had an event scheduled for then as well, but elected to cancel it just prior.
The next event on the UFC calendar is UFC 249 on Saturday, April 18th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event is set to be headlined by a lightweight championship bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. That fight has yet to be canceled while government officials continue sorting out how long social distancing will be necessary to fight COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
